I'm part of a SARSEP plan my employer set up with Equitable - but I'd like to move some of the funds to another type of investment other than mutual funds and definitely out of Equitable's fund groups. Can I do this? How do I do it?

Set up an IRA somewhere else and ask your new IRA custodian how to move the money. You'll need to complete some forms.

Keep in ind that elective contributions from this traditionl IRA (SEP) may not be rolled over to another traditional IRA until after a determination has been made that the 125% test has not been exceeded, or if earlier, March 15, following the end of the plan year.
