Can anyone provide, or direct me to, statistical information as to what percentage of profit sharing plans permit in service withdrawals (other than hardship)?

Look at the 1997 Employee Benefits Survey at the following website, tables 158-161. Also, for profit sharing 401(k) plans, note that in-service withdraws are generally prohibited before 59 1/2, with an exception for hardship.
