Can anybody recommend a good tool/utility that calculates various optional forms of benefits. I'm looking for software that will calculate various J&S, L + X certain, Lump Sums, etc. equivalents of a projected monthly benefit. The current tool we use is will be obsolete on 1/1/2000.

The only thing that comes to mind is to make your own spreadsheet that incorporates many different mortality tables. Let me know what you come up with. I also would like to know if you have a tool for calculating Social Security Benefits. Thanks

Provided you have all the necessary information, Social Security benefits can be computed using the ANYPIA program developed by the Social Security Administration's Office of the Actuary. It is available for public use (free) at
http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/ANYPIA/compute.html.

Mortality tables and a spreadsheet program are available at the Society of Actuaries website, www.soa.org. Look under Resources, then Table Manager.
