Full Version: Is there a "report" button for PM's?

I got an ad for Viagra (of Cialis, or some other crap) today via PM. I did not notice a "report" button. Is there one? Can there be?

I did try to "block" any future PM's from this "person," but the account was no longer active.

Interesting. I got one too and brought it to Dave Baker's attention via e-mail. You might want to let him know too. He replied that he's trying to come up with a way to prevent this but there really isn't one at the moment unless he makes signing up a lot more difficult.

apparently Benefits Link has been spammed.
if you look at the users logged into the board, the number of guests has been over 300 for any given 15 minute period all day - and you know that doesn't happen.

appropriately, I see that today is

(November 19) Today we're celebrating . . . " Have a Bad Day" Day

“Have a Bad Day” Day
If it burns you up to constantly be told to “Have a nice day!”, today is your respite from these cheery-minded folks. Today, you can proudly and grouchily declare, “No thanks! But you have a bad day!”

I got that PM too. But it shows that the user was deleted so I figured somebody took care of it already.

We nuked it early today.

I hope we don't have more Personal Messenger spam.

It is possible to stop Personal Messenger messages altogether:

---

My controls > Options > Board Settings > Personal Messenger Options
Disable your personal messenger? yes/no

If you disable your personal messenger, you will not be able
to make or receive personal messages.
---

This is the first time this has happened. I am amazed at the lengths to which spammers go. They are using people overseas who are paid very little money, to actually register with message boards and send messages. I am looking into ways to fight it, but it will be difficult unless the registration process is made more complicated.

This also might be an automated 'bot' that is crawling through the database sending personal messages to every registered user. I am having an interesting morning :-) I will investigate a software fix today.
