Does anyone have any insight as to when in March the final 409A regs will be issued? Thanks!

A recent IRS statement by Plan Sponsor:
Final rules under tax code Section 409A should be out fairly shortly, and they will be "voluminous," Cheryl E. Press, senior counsel at the Internal Revenue Service's Office of Division Counsel/Associate Chief Counsel (Tax-Exempt and Government Entities), said last week, according to a report by Washington-based publisher BNA. The guidance is expected by June 30 and will address what constitutes a substantial risk of forfeiture, she said, according to the report.
The IRS made a similar statement last year promising to issue final regs in time for an effective date of Jan 1, 2007.

Treasury is on record as saying they are now waiting on release of the 415 regs, so nothing will happen until then.

415 Final regulations were issued last Friday. So - anyone holding their breath yet for the 409A regulations?

Nope, decided it would be more productive to watch the paint dry on the wall.

Can you share a copy with those of us anxiously awaiting them? Do you know when they are going to be officially released?

Be fair - that's the date of publication. We still have until 12/31/2007.

Anyone know when the Federal Register version of the final 409A regs will be published? (Or did I miss it already?)
