1997 tax year I purchased a Nondeductable IRA and rolled it into a Roth in 1998. But I did not file an 8606. How do I fix this?

I'd file a 1040X and attach the Form 8606 to it with an explanation... which is basically how you amend one... in this situation you are merely correcting the fact that one wasn't filed.

Also add a letter of explaination to your 1998 return. IRS will not spend a lot of effort tracking down small $$ if they get a simple explaination. You give them an excuse to drop a possible inquiry. This first year of Roths is just going to be a big headache for the IRS.
