Is a Waterpik system reimbursable from a health FSA? All the information that i can find pertains to a battery powered or electric toothbrush, but I don't know if this would fall under the same guidelines. Any opinions??

We treat it as dual purpose (general health normally, but could be prescribed for treament of a condition), which our plan does not reimburse, so we say no.

This is another of those gray area items that could go either way. If it is being used merely for the sake of good oral hygiene, then no, it is not a reimbursable expense. If the employee states that they are using it under doctor’s orders, then I would require documentation from the dentist stating that the Waterpik is an integral part of on-going treatment for a specific condition—periodontal disease, perhaps.
