Can someone tell me what a CAFR report is. We have a governmental plan whose auditors are looking for this. Does it have another name?

Thanks.

I believe CAFR is Govt. Accountant jargon for "Comprehensive Annual Financial Report".

CAFR does indeed stand for Comprehensive Annual Report.

In addition to GASB 25 audited financial statements, a CAFR for governmental pension systems generally includes a message from the directors, an overview of the system's operations and organizational structure, additional audited financial schedules, an investment section, an actuarial section, and a statistical section (mostly actuarial and demographic info also).

CAFR also stands for an award program the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) sponsors called the "Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR Program)."

Our system prepared its first CAFR this year.

It was a very worthwhile effort.
