Can anyone point me to a resource that outlines the process for calculating a partner's compensation / dc retirement plan contribution.

IRS Publication 560 may help you. Also if you search the message boards you will find several prior threads.
Starting point is line 15 of the K-1. Adjust as required pursuant to 401©(2).
