Can anyone give me any feedback on prepaid legal services as an employee benefit? Has anyone implemented a program? What company did you use? Do the employees use it? Have you considered it and not implemented it? Both positive and negative comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Prepaid legal plans are a wonderful benefit. Ironically, my first experience with a legal plan was through my wifes employer AT&T.

There are many vendors "hawking" these programs. Some of these plans are first rate while others are not worth the paper they are printed on. Serious due diligence is required!

We have implemented legal programs for groups throughout the country and have had great feedback from employers and employees. It is definitely a benefit worth offering your employees on either an employer paid basis or as a voluntary benefit (100% employee paid). The success of the program ultimately comes down to how the program is communicated to the employees, which should be of no surprise to anyone reading this message board.

Generally speaking, the benefit is worth implementing.

The key really is how much legal services you get for your plan. In the end, the most widely used services seem to be power of attorney, wills, divorce, and major traffic defense. Several other services are really not widely used or sound more important than they are.
