I have been offered a sales job with a medical company, and they pay (reimburse) .12 per business mile. Is this fair? What is the industry average? Thanks!

M. Niehaus: At my company, we reimburse using the current IRS allowance for business mileage. This amount is currently .315/mile.
You may want to ask why they reimburse less than the IRS allowance.
Good luck!

IRS "guideline"/"allowance" is the maximum amount reimburseable and it is intended to cover gasoline, maintenance, insurance, etc. so .12 might be fair if company is paying some of these items. -0- might also be fair. What else are they doing for you? Is the wage fair? Benefits fair? Trips? Incentives? Discounts? Vacation? Education? I would not make a career decision based on mileage reimbursement.
