Would anyone happen to know of a good, comprehensive resource book about stop-loss insurance - how calculated, attachment points (specific/aggregate) etc..? Thanks

Judy:
We use a guide called "Employer's Guide to Self-Insuring Health Benefits," from Thompson Publishing Group, Washington, DC 20006. You can reach them at 800-677-3789. It's quite comprehensive, though only one section of it deals with stop-loss insurance. That section deals with terminology, plan design, the market process, and provides purchasing advice.
You might check with the Self-Insurance Institute of America (SIiA) for more material, which will be both more specific and more detailed. Their website is www.siia.org.
I found an article by searching the BenefitsLink site. Try this internet site:

I notice you are located in New York. There used to be a problem finding NYS admitted Stop loss cariers. Unless you are willing to recomend non-admitted cariers to clients, I would check with the NYS Insurance department for admitted cariers. I haven't look for such information, but you may also want to try the NYS Insurance web site at www.ins.state.ny.us/yins.htm
Good Luck
