Can the assets of a terminated Money Purchase Pension Plan be transferred to a defined benefit plan sponsored by the same employer?

Yes.
Transferred are permitted between all 401(a) plans owned and operated by the same employer. If the employers are not one and the same, then the transaction would be moved as a direct rollover
