Any suggestions on what to charge a single employer DB client for the PPA amendment? DC client?

Consider what you charged for the 415 amendment. Compare the amount of work involved and price accordingly.

While Gary's question may be a valid inquiry for someone desiring to provide service to his/her clients, it does seem to cross the line with respect to the purpose of these Message Boards.

The Boards are a very valuable tool for sharing information, and we are very grateful to Dave Baker for BenefitsLink. Many users would be disappointed if the Boards were no longer available, or lost credibility, because of activities or postings that appear related only to "how much can I charge".

Sometimes a reply appears to be irrelevant to the orginal topic. We all benefit by avoiding "clutter", but sometimes there is another purpose:
- Just because a reply is "lighthearted" does not mean it is irrelevant;
- You are not required to respond to every reply;
- Some replies really are intended as jokes; although they may be distracting to the message, sometimes they can be useful to keep us from taking ourselves too seriously;
- Some people reply with worthwhile comments, but their phrasing may be inadequate and distort the intended message (that's why we have the ability to edit our messages); we just have to accept their flaws, forgive them, and hope they forgive us as well;
- Not everyone takes, or gives, criticism well;
- None of us knows everything, so we do well when we are willing to listen to others.

I am also very grateful to Dave Baker for providing this valuable free service. That is why I felt it was unfortunate that the individual who posed the question got absolutely no help and in fact was treated rudely. I realize we can't opine on matters of fees, but a little guidance can go a long way. That is why I responded with something that might help him with his dilemma. Fees are a huge dilemma for all of us and it would be nice to know that we can ask a question that might be "over the line" and get something in return. We are all under a lot of stress, and I understand that a little levity goes a long way, but I think the rude comments above "crossed the line." In any event, this is just my opinion.

You sir, appear to have violated the take-oneself-too-seriously clause of our constitution reproduced below. My comment was intended as lighthearted; shirley, many understood it's origin. You sir did not get the joke.

Discussion of fees is something to do around the bar at the EA or ASPPA meeting, not on a website (those Google spiders are constantly out there, you know).

Seriously, why don't we just start a discussion thread to come to an agreement about what we should all charge? After the various examinations by the various professional agencies (although I guess the Academy has some bigger fish to fry right now) and the DOJ, we can continue our discussion after we finish raking the sandtraps at the minimum security facility.

Gee, why do I feel like I just got yelled at by June and Ward Cleaver.

Gary knew, or should have known after almost 800 posts, that discussing fees on this board is a no no. If he was a new poster, I'm sure the reaction of the group would have been different.

Personally I think Carrots was the best of the bunch.

Hey, June and Ward were awesome! Then again, they could be fierce when scolding the kids...

Anyway, I am a relatively new poster, and didn't realize how taboo the fee subject was. Now I know better. Thank you.

Fee discussions are verboten (remember all of that Anti-Trust mumbo jumbo at the beginning of any EA Meeting General Session).
