Is spousal consent required for a hardship distribution from a 401(k) plan?
MoJo
If the plan is subject to the spousal consent requirements, then yes....
EGB
As an addition to MoJo's comment, the plan will have spousal consent requirements if it contains joint and survivor annuities. If the plan contains only lump sums and/or installments, spousal consent should not be needed unless the plan specifically contains such a requirement.

This doesn't pertain just
to hardship withdrawals, but if the plan has lump sum as default distribution and options of J&S or installments, is a spousal consent form needed for a)hardship loan or withdrawal and b)Distribution at termination?
